WELCOME        ABOUT        CONDUCT         JOIN

Because of the sensitive nature of the subject matter handled by the OIC, it is important to establish a code of conduct among the members both online and in person.

We welcome differences in opinions. We do not condone intolerance among our members. We are all in this together. Name-calling, finger pointing, and personal attacks will be considered unacceptable behavior. Our online forum monitors will not edit your contributions or correct them. If your contribution is considered inappropriate, it will simply not be posted. The monitor's decision is final, but appeals to the executive committee may be considered in extreme circumstances.

We must always be diligent in keeping our comments and actions within the scope of what is legally allowed. To use certain terms about the conduct of persons in and outside the OIC — such as "fraud," "cheat," "con-man," etc. — may bring on unnecessary legal actions, so we must avoid them. We must always be aware that we live in a litigious society. Our first goal is to keep our contributions concise and non-accusatory as it applies to the OIC and S.A.M.

We represent the S.A.M. at all times. Our conduct must fit within the scope of the overall SAM organization. Unlike other paranormal related groups, we must conform to the by-laws of the constitution and standards of the S.A.M. membership.

Our directive explains the course of actions and rules governing outside communications. As a general member of the OIC, the involvement is strictly limited to inside communications. No one may conduct any private or personal investigation under the umbrella of the OIC and/or the S.A.M. without permission from the S.A.M. executive committee, S.A.M. legal, and the OIC executive committee.

We encourage personal and independent investigations, research, and observations. Outcomes of these independent endeavors may be shared with the OIC's members and can be officially listed with the OIC as described in our electronic sites. No investigations of any kind can be made on behalf of the OIC or S.A.M. without permission as described above. Any violation of these codes of conduct can be grounds for immediate removal from the membership of the OIC, and in extreme cases, may be reported to the S.A.M. National Council for further disciplinary review. Any questions regarding the code of conduct should be directed to the OIC Chair.
